Fujitsu today announced their own netbook called the M2010. The Fujitsu M2010 is geared towards students from K-12 and mobile professionals, but can it distinguish itself from the myriad of other netbooks out there?
The M2010 runs an Intel Atom N270 processor, up to 2GB of RAM, and 160GB HDD. If these specs sound familiar, it’s because those specs are now standard fare for netbook-class devices. 3 USB slots are provided, 802.11 b/g wireless local area network and bluetooth connectivity, and the netbook can boot into Windows XP in 50 seconds. The device also comes with a 3-cell battery providing up to 2.5 hours of run time. Pricing is pegged at $449 and is available now at Fujitsu’s e-store.
Sony P-Series notebooks

Sony launched its ultra-light weight P-Series notebooks at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas. Can you guess the weight of the new Sony P-Series notebook?? It’s an unbelievable 638 grams for the three cell variant. The 6 cell battery model weighs a few grams more. The 8 inch 16:9 widescreen is extremely clear and can run at a resolution of 1600x768. This may be a great technical achievement but makes the users to stare at the screen. The Sony P-Series provides a zoom function to combat this issue, but it can even be solved by reducing the resolution by few pixels. In order to reduce the size to a larger level, the Sony P-Series has sacrificed its trackpad for a nub nested in the middle of the keyboard. It takes some time to get adapted to using this nub for cursor controls. The keypad is really comfortable, except the fact that you tend to brush the nub once in a while, which may change the position of the cursor while typing.
Another difficulty is that the webcam is placed to the right of the screen instead of the usual above-screen position. This leaves the user twisting his head to get his picture in the center of the screen. The memory is very limited with a minimal 60 GB hard disk. The connectivity is provided through bluetooth devices, draft-n-Wi-Fi facility. There is sim-free 3G HSDPA modem and inbuilt GPS technology.
The price of the Sony P-Series remains a great worry. The Sony P-Series notebooks are priced at £ 1368.99 Only those who wish to carry the latest gizmos in their pockets wish to buy the Sony P-Series notebooks at this huge price.
