Varanam Aayiram Movie Review

Posted: Thursday, November 13, 2008

Goutham Menon can chase away the butterflies in his stomach and ask his heart to take it a bit easy as his latest film starring Suriya ‘Varanam Aayiram’ is witnessing tremendous bookings in advance.

The advance booking opened on the 12th of November and the two days before its release has been nothing short of dramatic. Be it Sathyam Cinemas, Abirami, Albert, Sangam, Inox or Mayajaal booking has been very good and the tickets have been almost sold out for about a week.

The proof of the pudding would be in the eating tomorrow when the movie releases. The USP of the film is Suriya appearing in many getups and of course Goutham Menon’s direction.

Mayajaal will be screening the film as many as 38 times a day. Inox too is booked for the weekend and most booking has been through the internet.

Female crowds for the film are expected to be very high as is the case with most Suriya films. The actor plays characters that span many years, right from being a schoolboy to that of an old man. An exciting prospect for Suriya fans. The film also has Divya Spandana, Sameera Reddy and Simran as the leading ladies.

This sure is the season of ‘Varanam Aayiram’.

Peoples have lots of reason to enjoy in this movie . . Today the movie is releasing and im going to watch this fantastic movie with my friends . . So people you guys also watch this movie . . go to the movie if you have no place in the world to cry....just a biography...poorly told....may have been a blockbuster as a book...no good as a movie...
i dnt know why gauti emphasize so much on sentiment and broken hearts when he can make movies like kaaka kaaka and vetayadau vilayadu....
just like a replacement of cry baby serials in tamil channels

first of all u guys shud learn how to watch a movie.....u shudnt expect gowtham to keep making movies like kaaka kaaka and VV....this movie is dedicated to his DAD who recently passed away....it was clearly given in the trailer ( for fools who wud have expected it to be an action movie ) that it was story abt how a son is influenced by his dad.....all u guys reading this review...stop reading it....wat do these ppl know abt how to review a movie.....these are all amateur guys with access to internet....so plz go watch the movie .....dont listen to some idiots who love masala movies like kuruvi and come and write a review abt a movie by a great director like gowtham......this is a movie made from the director's heart and u can feel that.......My final verdict abt the movie is "IF U LOVE UR DAD , WATCH THE MOVIE.....OTHERWISE SIT AT HOME AND JERK OFF"

yes………it is a sentimental movie…..c’mon guys it is a story abt a guy……is ur life very happy….always filled with happy and wonderful things?????…….i’m sure most of u wud have had a love failure……even ive had one…….if love really means something to u then u can understand surya’s feelings……but some guys wud have loved a gal so that u can fuck her day in and day out…..so u wont undrstand all this……so plz stop reviewing the movie if u dont know the meaning of this movie…….
y doesnt anyone tell abt the good things in the movie…….romance b/w sameera and surya in the train is simply brilliant…..after seein that , u guys wud want to propose to a gal in the same way……and ive decided to learn the guitar…….surya’s actin is mindblowing and simran is a perfect example for an aging beauty….

Moondraam Pirai was such a big hit coz of how kamal’s emotion was portrayed on the screen…..thank god there was no blogs and internet at that time…….otherwise u guys wud have written bad reviews for that also………the truth is that u guys dont deserve great directors like gowtham who gives his heart out for a movie…..

gowtham’s next step of venturing into meaningful cinema is indeed successful……..hope he continues to do more wonderful movies like this…….i just hope all of u wud be mature enough to enjoy that…..

The film is not that much bad.But the problem is the dad/son relationship is not that much reality to see it looks very abnormal, another think is that a person goes to america in search of girl is very foolish(no chance of happening)that too i dont know why they used english dialogues ……which is not reality

I dont know y they said the bit story in the last that little child kashmir......

The film like dad/son relationship is nice to watch but it should look reality but many scenes are abnormal specially the english dialogues ……….

This kind of film should be slow only and the problem is its length some 10 or 15 miuntes can be reduced in order to avoid that lenghty feeling
i watched all Gautham films many times but this film can be watched only once

Love is not the only think in dad/son relationship.director never said about making money ...

thavamai thavam irunthu, aaril irunthu arupadhu varai,Autograph
    looks reality that this

note Gautham tried long hair in this film also

finally the film can be watched once
    surya acting is good

    A real STUPID film.

and I'm not a stunt film fan.

There is absolutely no realism in the whole movie. If the director wants to make a heart-tugging film, he needs to infuse at least some logic into the film.

This is the worst film ever made in Tamil. Dont go and watch it fucks sucks. The film is full of dull faces (shit wtf) the old surya is like donkey. simran looks like a dull old beggar. the young surya just gets slaps from villains. total waste of body building and all bullshit. The whole fim is a cricket commentary where Surya blabs daddy daddy! fuck fuck this movie. anyone who makes comments ‘I like this movie, superb’ etc are out of their mind assholes. You cant sit in theatre for the full movie. gautham menon stinks throughout the movie.

whoever says its a good movie shut the fuck up

  19. Anonymous December 1, 2008 at 2:03 PM

    very boring.

  20. Anonymous December 12, 2008 at 11:08 PM

raggy rags said wot i wanted to say..tamil movie goer expectations are very high..wot they expect from a movie is an item number a stupid introduction song..a fatty villain..a few sexy scenes..etc

i agree that film was a bit out of pace..but to me the film was so close to ma heart..hats off to surya-gautam-harris trio..its very sad to see ur review..the film shows that death is an unavoidable fact and there is no point in lamenting over it.
