HP MINI 1000 Review

As an HP netbook pioneer, Mini-Note 2133 was a little bit disappointing for some HP lovers. Because at the early, some people were sure it will integrate Intel that have been trusted for giving best perform, but the fact, HP used another chipset. Together with the improvement of Atom Intel, HP finally decide to integrate this chipset into their newest netbook HP MINI 1000.

In general, HP MINI 1000 seems not to be different with Mini-Note 2133. But it doesn’t mean that MINI 1000 didn’t bring any improvement. Beside using different chipset, HP MINI 1000 use fresh hardware concept with smaller size. It use lithium polimer battery, 3G WWAN, and two different display size (8.9’’ and 10.2’’).

Phisicly, as Pavilion generation, we can say that HP MINI 1000 looks good. Shinny, smoothy, and unique coordinate colour that have become the characteristic for every HP notebook. So, in general this is cute enough. About the hardisk, it use 1,8’’ inch display smaller than 2,5’’ inch Mini-Note 2133. The network connectors position look simple, very practical, easy to brought, and suitable for traveling partner.

The LCD panel display is simillar with multimedia notebook in general. The LCD panel display has integrated with Bright View Infinity. So, it could produce detail colours and contrass perfectly. Unfortunately, in the dark room this netbook planel will get reflection on vertical angle, and it will influence the display colour. But we don’t have to be worry about the horizontal angle.

One difference between HP MINI 1000 and the previous Mini-Note 2133 is the chipset change from VIA to Atom Intel. I can’t say who is the best between them, because 1,6 GHz Atom Intel in Mini 1000 and C-7 VIA in Mini-Note 2133 are in different processor generation. So, I think it won’t be valid if we compare them.

But as usual, we will evaluate the benchmark so you could compare the performance with the other netbook. Okay, this netbook use 1,6 GHz Atom Intel processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM (667MHz), and 60 GB with 4200 RPM PATA hardisk.
For the speed process, it is depend on the application being operated because the speed fluctuation is high enough. It has properly happen to small hardisk and low RPM (4200) with high processor.

When you check the picture result by HDTune, you’ll find that the transfering process slowly. In the other side, good result were showed in benchmark processor using WPrime. The time record of MINI 1000 is also better than the previous generation.

Next, for 3Dmark06 benchmark, MINI 1000 give a “crisis” scor, the same happen with the other 950 GMA graphic Intel chipset netbook with only 88 3Dmark.
Compared with Mini-Note 2133, MINI 1000 has lower temperature when being used. Eventough we use it in a long time, the keyboard temperature is still in normal condition. The fan performance is not bad and doesn’t make any disturbing noise, even when we’re operating high application. With 60% LCD contrass in active wireless, MINI 1000 has 2 hours 55 minutes battery life. After that it will be in sleep mode.
